How to Add Freon to Car Air Conditioner (R134A Refrigerant)?

add freon to car air conditioner

The automotive air-conditioning refrigerant uses environmentally friendly R134a refrigerant, and we generally use low-pressure charging and static charging. Proceed as follows:

1. Turn on the air conditioner for cooling, add refrigerant from the low-pressure interface to 0.35-0.55Mpa, observe the cooling effect of the air conditioner, and the high pressure cannot exceed 2.2Mpa.

2. When the air conditioner is stopped, add refrigerant R134a to 0.8-0.9Mpa from the freon addition point.

3. Let the air conditioner run for 30 minutes to make a careful check.

(1) Measuring pressure The low pressure measuring pressure is 0.35-0.55Mpa. If it is too high, add more; if it is too low, add less. The high pressure cannot exceed 2.2Mpa.

(2) Listen to the sound. If the sound is too loud and dull, it may be due to the addition of too much freon. If the sound is too small, it means that the amount is not enough.

(3) Temperature measurement suction pipe. It is cooler and there is condensation, the temperature of the exhaust pipe is about 80 degrees, and the temperature of the condenser is about 55 degrees.

(4) Measure the total current of the working current. Close to the rated current, if the current is too large, add too much; if the current is too small, add too little.

4. Be sure to take your time when raising. After adding a little, let the air conditioner run for about 10 minutes and then measure the pressure and current.

In addition to the above conventional judgment methods, professionals remind consumers: if the cooling effect of the air conditioner is not satisfactory, be sure to ask special after-sales personnel to check, and do not blindly add refrigerant by yourself.
