Why Can R290 Refrigerant be a Substitute for R22 Refrigerant?

R290 refrigerant is evaluated as the most potential environmentally friendly refrigerant by the industry. This refrigerant is often referred to as propane, which is a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant that can be obtained directly from liquefied gas.

Compared with other refrigerants, its ODP value is 0, and GWP value is close to 0. It will not cause damage to the ozone layer, nor will it emit greenhouse gases to increase global warming. It is a completely environmentally friendly refrigerant. R290 refrigerant can be used in compact systems with low refrigerant charge, as well as in domestic air conditioners and heat pumps. Compressor technology matched with R290 refrigerant came into being. In order to meet the market demand for R290 environmentally friendly refrigerants in the air-conditioning market, many compressor companies are committed to creating cutting-edge technologies in the industry.

At present, China’s R290 environmentally friendly refrigerant compressors have been mass-produced, covering the application fields of air conditioners, dehumidifiers, heat pump water heaters, and clothes dryers, and covering 1~3HP fixed-frequency series products.

In the future, China will further strengthen the demonstration pilot program for the transformation of production lines using R290 refrigerant.

In addition, my country’s first phase of the R22 phase-out plan supported by the Mengyue Fund was completed beyond expectations. At the same time, the second phase of the Montreal Multilateral Fund will most likely include “heat pump water heaters”.

With the continuous deepening of R290 application technology research and the continuous accumulation of experience, the environmentally friendly refrigerant R290 will have broad market application prospects in the future.
