First, R600a and R134a are new generation refrigerants that replace the previous R22 and R12 refrigerants.
Advantages of R600a and R134a: Both are new generation refrigerants that do not damage the atmosphere.
R600a is white lighter gas (butane). Disadvantages: flammable and explosive, can not be gas welded during the maintenance of the refrigeration system. The “rocket ring” is usually used for the head of the refrigeration system.
The R134a can be used to repair the refrigeration system using gas welding. However, the vacuum degree of the system is very high during operation. Disadvantages, it is easy to block the throttle device.
R134a is more Popular and proven but has Global Warming Potential implications.
R600a (not 600A, there is a difference) is Isobutane. Nearly identical pressure/temperature profile as 134a, quite efficient, no ODP or GWP, in some cases a lower charge can be used, but (obviously) highly flammable.
In the future, you will see much more R600a applications.
